Greening Toronto's Gardens is a comprehensive program that includes garden workshops and the Great Garden Adventure (GGA), a children's gardening program. This program uses fun games, crafts and activities to teach children about garden ecosystems, composting and growing food. We have run the GGA at our Eglinton Park Community Garden since 2004, and have since expanded it to other gardens in Scarborough, North York and on UofT campus. To find out more about the GGA or if you're interested in having the program in your community, email garden (at) torontogreen.ca
Our ecological gardening workshops have been delivered to many groups across the city. In 2007, we developed and delivered a "Train the Trainer" manual on ecological gardening. A total of 50 groups requested and received copies of the manual. The second phase of manual development will see the creation of three new modules for the Train-the-Trainer manual: Container gardening for apartment dwellers, ESL in the Garden, and Food Security and Culture.
