In partnership with the City of Toronto and EcoAction, Toronto Green Community has developed an Ecological Gardening "Train the Trainer" Workshop Series. This series provides the knowledge and resources necessary to teach people how to give workshops on the basics of ecological gardening. By sharing this experience with other groups, we hope to contribute to the growing ecological gardening movement across the Greater Toronto Area and further our mandate of greening Toronto - one garden at time.
There are five modules currently available: Ecological Gardening Basics, Native Plant Gardening, Troubleshooting Pests and Weeds Naturally, Water-Friendly Gardens and Landscapes, and Natural Tree Care. Each module can be conducted as a 2-21/2 hour presentation and contains curriculum outlines, insturctor resources, participant handouts, and powerpoint slides. The link "Introduction" below provides an in-depth description of how the Train the Trainer series works and how it was developed.
In order to disseminate this information as widely as possible, Toronto Green Community is making all of these workshops and resources available for free through the links below. Please feel free to use these workshops in your community and report back to us with your feedback; we are always looking for ways to make the program more effective!
